Electric Vehicle Rebates in BC
The Government of B.C.’s CleanBC Go Electric program is good rebate worth looking into. Individuals who lease or buy a new electric vehicle are eligible for up to $4,000 off the after-tax vehicle price. Here is a breakdown of the incentive amounts:
- The purchase or lease of a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) or extended-range (ER)-EV, you may receive up to $4,000
- With the purchase or lease of a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), you may receive up to $2,000
- With the purchase or lease of a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle (FCEV), you may receive $4,000
Charging Station For Electric Vehicle Rebates
There are three levels of chargers. Level 1 EV Charger, Level 2 EV Charger, and Level 3, also known as a Fast Charger. Level 1 and Level 2 EV Chargers are predominantly used in homes. Where as Level 3 Fast Chargers are used in businesses and common areas.
If you plan to install an EV charger in your home, you might be eligible for an electric vehicle rebate. The rebate is administered by BC Hydro and FortisBC. If you live in a single-family home, row home, duplex or townhouse and have purchased and installed a Level 2 EV Charger, you may qualify to receive up to 50% of the purchase and installation costs, to a maximum of $350.
